Jim O’Hanlon has been a Pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America since 2000, of St. Paul’s in Rye Brook since 2010.
“Pastor Jim” has actively collaborated with colleagues of various faiths for local service projects and interfaith encounters for local congregations and their youth. Jim is also active with Westchester United which brings diverse faiths together to work on important issues that they cannot impact on their own. Through Westchester United Jim has participated in creating a coalition between clergy and law enforcement in a national campaign to address gun violence called “Do Not Stand Idly By.” Jim is proud to help sponsor the Interfaith Social Justice Book Club and to serve on the board of the local Council of Community Services as past president.
Raised a Roman Catholic, Jim was shaped by the liturgical, social and church reforms of the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s. After college he earned a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in NYC and subsequently a Master of Sacred Theology from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. Pastor Jim and his wife Lorna have two teenagers.
